ROWING PRACTICE DATES:
For all practice dates we will meet from 3-4:30pm at the Hixbridge Landing on the East Branch of the Westport River, 303 Hixbridge Rd., Westport, MA
*If there is inclement weather, you will be notified if we have to cancel or reschedule a practice date.
RACE DAY INFO:
The Sound School Open Water Rowing Team cordially invites you to compete in the annual Sound School Elm City Open Water Challenge on picturesque New Haven Harbor. The race will be held on the waterfront at our school and involve a series of heats followed by a one-mile sprint.

Location of the Race: The Sound School, 60 So. Water St., New Haven, CT
We will all meet at the
Providence Train Station, 100 Gaspee St., Providence.
We will have 2 adults (from Dharma Voyage & Rec Dept) accompanying the teens on the train to go to New Haven.
*Optional: Parents can choose to buy a train ticket for themselves if they want to join us on the trip. This is optional as parents do not have to be in attendance if they are not able to.
6:30am Meet at Providence/MBTA Train Station
7:15am Train leaves Providence/MBTA Station
9:03am Train arrives in New Haven/Union Station and Sound School picks us up to take us to race location
9:30 am- Registration/Launching/Coxswain’s Meeting
10:00am-12:30 race(s) take place
12:30-1:30pm (post-race) Hauling of boats, preparing for travel, food and refreshments
2:00pm Awards and goodbyes
2:30/3pm Sound School takes us to New Haven/Union Train Station
3:52pm Train leaves for Providence
5:39pm Train arrives in Providence/MBTA Station, parents pick up
(Fee includes: 3 practice dates, round-trip train ticket for the rower pre-purchased by Westport Rec/DV, transportation from the train station to the race location and back again, race fee pre-purchased by Westport Rec/DV, lunch and t-shirt.)
This program is a partnership with Dharma Voyage, a Westport, MA 501(c)3 who will run the rowing program for us with experienced trained adult coxswain/instructors.
