Adventures in Parenting

This presentation is taught by a former public education administrator and teacher, Debbee Radcliff, M.Ed., RMT. The program helps parents, caregivers, teachers or coaches to solve struggles, communicate effectively and help children learn life skills. Let's face it, most of us that interact with children in some way have had to try to delicately handle a tantrum or put a defiant child to bed. All the while, we are still trying to deal with the ups and downs of our personal lives. We make a variety of decisions on a daily basis that either assist or impede a child's progress toward becoming a respectful person with empathy who can communicate effectively. Adventures in Parenting uses the "kind and firm" approach to parenting, giving caregivers the knowledge and tools to solve struggles, communicate effectively and help children learn lasting life skills.

The program will start with checking in, a brief grounding meditation and introduction. Afterwards, participants will take part in an experiential activity that introduces at least two Positive Discipline Tools to help them see from the child's eyes, and take a deeper understanding of what strategies work and identify those that don't. The program will end with a short question and answer period.
