In these 7 classes, kids will do warm-ups, play theatre and improv games, and work on creating a comedic character! Students will explore all the things that go into making a hilarious and dynamic character using vocal and physical choices, finding a character's point of view, and costume and prop elements. Once they have found a character they're happy with, each student will start creating a monologue for their character to perform. They'll practice making bold and specific acting choices with in a fun and supportive environment. At the end of the 7 weeks, the students will perform their solo comedic characters in a show to showcase all of their hard work!

A Midwesterner transplant, Kate has her BFA in theater from Ohio University and is an iO! Chicago trained improviser. Kate has worked as a teaching artist and performer for almost 20 years in theatre, sketch comedy and improv. She has taught both kid and adult classes in schools, theatre organizations and hospital settings. She loves helping people tap into their creativity and can not wait for all the hilarious things you are going to say!
